As far as the amout allotted for traveling I would suggest that you check directly with your particualar airline, as it does vary depending upon what type of aircraft you will be traveling on. For the items that are allowed and not allowed, you need to visit the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they have the complete list of items that you can and can not bring on the aircraft....

Yes, you certainly can buy surplus military aircraft as a civilian. Realize though that other than maybe military jet aircraft are VERY expensive to operate. Are there any saloons from the Wild West period still standing in the US?

I used to live in Crested Butte Colorado and they have quite a few historic buildings. It's an old mining town and yes, it still has one of the original saloons. It's called Kocheivar's and they still have the original roulette wheel up on the wall. It may be from a period slightly later than the 'Wild West' period, but it's close.
